What is Deploy Safe?

Cars with integrated side airbags need special seat covers which allow airbags to deploy when needed. Seat covers with a side slit are not the answer. They may misalign, move, be improperly fitted and not to mention they look ugly.

Deploy Safe seat covers look great and the special thread and computerised stitching process allows airbags to break through the seat cover side seams if deployed. Each seat cover is manufactured to the highest standards and a Quality Assurance barcode sticker is produced when passed safe. Deploy Safe seat cover technology has been tested by recognised and fully accredited testing authorities.

The Deploy Safe Story

Ilana commenced working on the problem of seat covers and vehicles with integrated side airbags in early 2007. Following extensive initial product development, tests were carried out by an Australian safety standards tester with international accreditation. The test results were positive and this encouraged the expansion of the Deploy Safe project.

Ilana Accessories approached a world recognised European testing authority which has been extensively involved in the testing of seat covers for seats with integrated side airbags. The accredited tester is one of the world’s leading testing and certification organisations and is recognised and respected internationally and within Australia.

In October 2008 extensive tests with Ilanas Deploy Safe seat covers on integrated side airbags were conducted. Airbags were required to deploy properly and within millisecond tolerances. Tests were conducted within extreme tolerances from scorching temperatures to below freezing cold. Positive test results were achieved. To date numerous different types of tests have been conducted in Australia and Europe.

The team of 16 have been involved in the Deploy Safe project ranging from Australia, China, Japan and Europe.

Deploy Safe is now a major commitment by Ilana with yearly factory and manufacturing inspections by an internationally accredited testing and quality assurance company.

For your safety, extensive testing by accredited testing authorities has and will continue to be undertaken on all Deploy Safe seat covers.

Airbag Safe Seat Covers

Proven Technology

Deploy Safe uses a special stitching technique which is designed to allow the seat cover side seams to break open upon deployment of an airbag. This is similar technology used by vehicle manufacturers in their integrated seat airbags.

Overall Stitching

The Deploy Safe stitching is used on both side seams of all universal size 25 and 30 Deploy Safe seat covers. Integrated side airbags will always deploy regardless of where and how the integrated side airbag and any seat covers are fitted.

Specialised Computerised Sewing Machines

Specialised fully computerised sewing machines are used to manufacture all Deploy Safe seat covers.

Manufacturing Standards

The highest manufacturing standards are used and strictly controlled including the thread thickness, strength, length and tension of each stitch.

Quality Assurance

Only if all the Deploy Safe strict manufacturing quality parameters are passed will the stitching machine produce a unique verification barcode and number that records the exact date and time of manufacture.

Quality Control Barcodes

Two individual quality control verification barcode stickers are sewn into the left and right side seams of each each universal size 25 and 30 Deploy Safe seat covers and Tailor Made Esteem and Outback Deploy Safe packs and only on the driver and passenger side respectively for custom made Deploy Safe seat covers to verify that it has passed the strict quality control standards. Duplicates of the quality control verification barcode stickers are also provided and sewn into the seat cover for Purchase Registration purposes.

Safety Information

Deploy Safe seat covers are suitable for cars with integrated side airbags.

Before fitting please read below information.

  • Correct initial fitting and securing of this seat cover on your vehicle is essential to allow deployment of the seat airbag. Incorrect fitting can prevent the seat airbag from inflating correctly in the event of a collision.
  • All Deploy Safe seat covers with the exception of Custom Made seat covers have side
    opening seams on both the left and right hand side of the seat cover to allow fitting to either the driver or passenger seats. Custom Made seat covers have side opening seams on one side of the seat cover. There is an identifying tag on each seat cover. The driver and passenger seat cover must be fitted to the correct seats in the vehicle. You must fit the ‘drivers’ on drivers side and ‘passenger’ on the passenger side.
  • Driver and passenger seat covers must be fitted correctly with the Deploy Safe seam
    positioned over the airbag seam of the vehicles seats.
  • Seat covers that have slipped or moved must be repositioned. If this is no longer possible because of advanced wear the seat cover must be replaced.
  • Do not tamper with the opening side seam of the seat cover.
  • These seat covers are designed to allow the side seams to split open upon deployment of an airbag because they are constructed using a computer controlled stitching process and specialised thread.
  • If the side seam splits open for any reason it cannot be repaired. Any attempt to re-sew the seam may interfere with the standard integrated side airbag deployment.
  • Discard the seat covers after side airbag activation.

Disclaimer

Deploy Safe car seat covers manufactured by Ilana have been tested by an approved testing authority in Australia and found not to adversely affect the performance of the manufacturers seat fitted side airbag and therefore the safety of the vehicles occupants will not be compromised, providing that the seat covers are fitted correctly and in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, and that the seat covers have not been repaired or modified in any way.

As the manufacturers and sellers of this product have no control over the end use or the fitment to the vehicle, to the extent allowable by law, the manufacturers and sellers accept no responsibility or liability for any malfunction of the vehicle occupant safety systems including the seat mounted side impact airbag system as a direct or indirect result of the incorrect fitment or unauthorized repair or modification to this product.
